This news may not come as a shock to many of us who already view Carlson and his GOP crew of cronies as a bit of a troop of garbage people. However, Abby Grossberg, a former producer of Tucker Carlson Tonight who joined the show in September 2022, claims discrimination against women and people of the Jewish faith in a lawsuit against Carlson, Fox News, and a handful of other producers and executives who are connected to the show, according to reporting by The Independent.

Mar 13, 2023: National Review: Really? President Biden Is a ‘Night Owl’?
Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki, discussing President Biden this morning: “It is important to note President Biden does nothing at 9 a.m. He is a night owl. So the fact that he is doing this at 9 a.m. anyway speaks to how vital the White House recognizes it is for him to have his voice out there, conveying that to the American public.”
Mar 13, 2023: ABC News: DOJ says video of 'QAnon Shaman' Fox aired lacks context
The Justice Department in a new filing put forward its most direct response yet to footage aired last week by Fox News host Tucker Carlson that sought to downplay the actions of the self-described "QAnon Shaman," who was convicted and sentenced to prison for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Mar 13, 2023: Media Matters: Newsmax gave Tucker Carlson’s Jan. 6 revisionism nearly seven times more coverage than his own Fox colleagues
In theory, the right-wing cable network Newsmax competes with Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show, while other Fox programs benefit from his success. But Newsmax has given Carlson’s use of security footage from the storming of the U.S. Capitol nearly seven times as much coverage as his Fox colleagues since it was revealed on February 20 that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy had granted Carlson’s team exclusive access to the video trove. In fact, through Sunday, March 12, a single one-hour weekday Newsmax show has given Carlson’s story more attention than all of the rest of Fox combined.
Mar 13, 2023: Radar Online: Tucker Carlson SLAMS 'Autistic' Donald Trump For Ukraine Remarks After Hatred For Ex-Prez Was Made Public
Tucker Carlson called Donald Trump “autistic” and criticized the former president’s claims he could singlehandedly end Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine, RadarOnline.com has learned.
In a shocking interview between the Fox News star and Full Send Podcast host Kyle Forgeard, Carlson did not hold back when Forgeard asked his thoughts regarding former President Trump’s recent remarks about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Mar 13, 2023: MSNBC: Former Trumper says sorry for ‘unethical’ Fox News relationship
Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham has been on an image rehabilitation tour since leaving her position as Melania Trump’s chief of staff after the Jan. 6 riot. Mar 13, 2023: MSNBC: DOJ dispels Tucker Carlson’s deceptive Jan. 6 narrative
Tucker Carlson’s framing of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol as a peaceful event was deceptive, at best. A new legal filing has given the Justice Department the chance to explain why.
Sunday’s filing by the DOJ came in response to Proud Boys member Dominic Pezzola’s motion to dismiss the government’s case against him, citing Carlson’s March 6 show on Fox News. Pezzola, who is now on trial, is charged with seditious conspiracy and other counts in connection with Jan. 6.

March 9, 2023: Virgina Pilot: Lawsuit against Fox News reveals Tucker Carlson’s caustic texts about Trump: ‘I hate him passionately’
Tucker Carlson wrote “I hate him passionately” in newly released text messages about former President Donald Trump as bipartisan outrage continued to build over the Fox News host’s effort to whitewash the Jan. 6 attack.
Even as he cozied up to Trump in public, the messages show the conservative host actually despises the former president and considers him to be an epic failure.
Carlson suggested that Trump would destroy Fox News and the conservative movement if given the chance.
“I hate him passionately. … What he’s good at is destroying things. He’s the undisputed world champion of that. He could easily destroy us if we play it wrong.”
In another text, Carlson conceded that conservative figures were “all pretending we’ve got a lot to show for” Trump’s tumultuous four years in the White House.
“Admitting what a disaster it’s been is too tough to digest,” he wrote. “But come on. There isn’t really an upside to Trump.” 3.9.23

March 8, 2023: Vanity Fair: “WE’RE ALL EMBARRASSED”: INSIDE FOX NEWS AS DOMINION REVELATIONS RATTLE THE NETWORK
Last month Fox News producers in New York, Washington, and other bureaus were summoned for mandatory training sessions. The topic: libel law.
With Fox facing down two defamation lawsuits that could cost the company billions of dollars, management decided to set up lengthy meetings about legal concepts like “actual malice.” That’s what Dominion Voting Systems and another voting technology company, Smartmatic, are trying to prove: that Fox aired lies about their firms while the people involved knew the claims weren’t true or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. The training “came a little bit late,” one staffer cracked. A producer who attended a late February educational session said Dominion and Smartmatic were not mentioned by name but didn’t have to be: “We all knew why we were there.”
Mar 8, 2023: NPR: How a civil war erupted at Fox News after the 2020 election
The aftermath of the 2020 presidential election sparked a civil war within Fox News, as the network that had spent years building record profits and ratings by catering to fans of then-President Donald Trump saw millions of those viewers peel away.
Mar 8, 2023: Media Matters: By embracing election denialism, Fox Corp. seemingly defied what its shareholders deem to be responsible corporate governance
In March 2021, Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox Corp., claiming that “Fox sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process.” Recently released filings and documents from the lawsuit have revealed that Fox knew it was broadcasting lies to its viewers — but the Murdochs, Fox Corp.’s board of directors, and other top executives did nothing to stop it. These filings suggest that board members violated their fiduciary duty and top executives neglected their responsibilities, and the behavior seemingly flouts Fox Corp. shareholders’ understanding of responsible corporate governance.

March 7, 2023:
Local newspapers were never perfect, but also never gave the pretense that they were. They could sometimes reflect community prejudices, or cozy up to authorities they should have challenged. But the social costs of losing local coverage genuinely rooted in communities is profound.
Local news organizations encourage people to use businesses, go to theatres or join campaigning groups. They inform people about rights and services. They promote accountability and democratic oversight – even more important when power is devolving. But they also sustain communities in less tangible ways. They make people feel part of society. They allow them to assess what they read in the context of their own experience, and encourage them to see news as a source of practical and helpful information, rather than a matter of theoretical discussion and emotional reaction. Margaret Sullivan, a US media critic, warned that their erosion is a danger to democracy itself. It allows disinformation and emotive political rhetoric detached from fact to flourish. Disinformation is the easiest thing to find on the internet.
My personal choice for news is local news for most things. After that its a weight and balance time to look at major news sources where there are people trying to make a living which depends on an audience and a good share of the ratings. Most of them believe that sensationalizing a story is the best way to draw an audience. And, for many, truth is not the most important thing if a lie will get them more traffic which can revert to money in their pockets.
These kinds of resources can lead us through many "Max Headroom" moments. ("Max Headroom" was a pre-internet 1985 movie which to some degree became a prophetic insight in what was to come). I remember watching it on a rented VHS on my first "high tech" VHS player and thinking how weird it would be if this really happened...but I could see some possibilities.
Today I have the ability to watch literally thousands of movies at the flick of a remote without having to go to the Video Rental store. But, also, I have almost that many sources available for news and it has many many trails.

Mar 6, 2023: NPR: Fox News stands in legal peril. It says defamation loss would harm all media
Outside legal observers say the Fox News Channel finds itself in real legal jeopardy in a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit brought by an election tech company over lies broadcast about the 2020 presidential race.
The amount and weight of evidence is perhaps without equal among other major, recent defamation cases.
March 6, 2023: Deadline: Tucker Carlson Shows January 6th Capitol Footage To Try To Downplay Riot: “They Were Sightseers”
Tucker Carlson aired the first clips of January 6th Capitol surveillance footag on Monday, and the Fox News host spent much of the time using clips to downplay the attack on the Capitol and cast doubt on the 2020 presidential election.
But Carlson did not mention the widespread injury and destruction to the Capitol that day. Capitol Police reported that 114 officers were injured, and one officer died as the result of a stroke and four died by suicide. But TV viewers also could see for themselves what was happening live, with the scenes of the mob trying to break through the doors of the House, or of images of a gallows and noose set up on Capitol grounds. One video, shown during the January 6th Committee hearings, showed that those in the mob shouted, “Hang Mike Pence!” 3.6.23
March 6, 2023: CNN: ‘Dilbert’ to return on Scott Adams’ subscription service
On Sunday, the cartoonist livestreamed himself drawing the new comic strips on a tablet, where he said he was illustrating the “origin story of Dilbert Reborn.” It shows the strip’s Garbage Man character coming to collect ashes — possibly, Dilbert’s — and asking another character, “How did he die?”
Dogbert, in what Adams said is “the understatement of the year,” replies, “It’s a long story.”
The Garbage Man then says “cryptically,” according to Adams, “Give me two hours.”
Dogbert adds, “Can you make him angrier this time?” as the final punchline.
Mar 6, 2023: Media-Ite: Tucker Carlson Airs Jan 6. Footage to Rewrite the History of the Capitol Riot: ‘They Were Sightseers’
Tucker Carlson attempted to rewrite the history of the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot by insisting what actually happened was not what we all saw with our own eyes.
On Monday, the Fox News host aired some of the more than 40,000 hours of surveillance video his show was given access to by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
March 6, 2023: We Got This Covered: Comedian Deon Cole absolutely clowns on Scott Adams’ recent racist rant
Comedian and black-ish star Deon Cole has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Scott Adams.
As previously reported, Adams, the famous cartoonist and creator of Dilbert, has received massive backlash following his racist comments about Black people after a Rasmussen poll shared that a slight majority of them agreed with the term “It’s okay to be white.” The poll results released late last month showcased that only 53% of Black people agreed with the phrase, while the other 47% were divided between “disagree” and “not sure.”
Mar 6, 2023: HuffPost: White House Press Secretary Shades Marianne Williamson, And Reporters Crack Up
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre managed to throw a little shade while answering a question about Democrat Marianne Williamson’s recent decision to challenge Joe Biden in 2024.
“We’re just not tracking that,” she said, before cracking up reporters by saying, “If I had a, what’s it called? A little globe here, a crystal ball, then I can tell you, a Magic 8 Ball, whatever. If I could feel her aura. I just don’t have anything to share on that.” 3.6.23

March 5, 2023: The Guardian: The Guardian view on local journalism’s decline: bad news for democracy
There are probably fewer local newspapers in Britain now than at any time since the 18th century. More people get local news and information – or misinformation – from social media. A long-term decline has accelerated: more than 320 local titles closed between 2009 and 2019 as advertising revenues fell by about 70%. The pandemic was another blow. At least as serious as these disappearances is the hollowing out of titles that have seen staffing, resources and pagination slashed, and coverage thus diminished. It is harder to quantify when court reporting is replaced by write-ups of press releases, or generic national stories topped-and-tailed with a little local colour, but it is obvious to readers.
Local news organisations encourage people to use businesses, go to theatres or join campaigning groups. They inform people about rights and services. They promote accountability and democratic oversight – even more important when power is devolved. But they also sustain communities in less tangible ways. They make people feel part of society. They allow them to assess what they read in the context of their own experience, and encourage them to see news as a source of practical and helpful information, rather than a matter of theoretical discussion and emotional reaction. Margaret Sullivan, the US media critic (and now a Guardian US columnist) warns that their erosion is a danger to democracy itself. It allows disinformation and emotive political rhetoric detached from fact to flourish. 3.5.23

Far-right kingmaker Steve Bannon will come out swinging against Fox News at his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday, according to CNN reporter Alayna Treene. Bannon said he would “go after” the right-wing media giant, Treene tweeted, and gave a preview of his line of attack: “The Murdochs have decided that Trump is not going to be President of the United States. Well, we've decided that Fox is not going to be a major network anymore.”
March 3, 2023: Media Matters: Tucker Carlson: “A society that elevates people who are mentally ill is doomed”
TUCKER CARLSON (HOST): So, the problem with this is not John Fetterman himself. Once again, it's impossible not to feel sad for John Fetterman or anyone else who suffers from mental illness. A lot of us are eccentric, some of us are very eccentric, and a tolerant and compassionate society should do its best to help people suffering from problems like depression or schizophrenia or whatever. The problem is that a society that elevates people who are mentally ill is doomed.
