How, when you have the embassy closed, Americans have left, you have the parliament that has been dissolved, you have the president fleeing on a boat, maybe towards Djibouti?” asked Jansing. “You have so many less possibilities for intelligence on the ground. How can you say that we are still in a counter-terror situation there?”

Jan 22, 2014: Examiner: MSNBC host shocked to learn Pope Francis opposes abortion
Pope Francis sent a message of solidarity to the marchers, telling them he was there in spirit if not in person. “I join the March for Life in Washington with my prayers, may God help us respect all life, especially the most vulnerable,” he said in a tweet. But that didn't sit too well with Chris Jansing, host of MSNBC's "Jansing &Co.," who "sniffed" at the thought Pope Francis supports the Catholic Church's long-held belief that abortion is immoral and wrong, and said his views are “reflective of ways in which the church certainly has not changed.”

During their daily "toss," Roberts lamented that, as a former star in a school production of the seminal play, he had not been involved in said conversation. Jansing offered him a chance to sing, upon which Roberts let loose with such a surprising falsetto rendition of "So Long, Farewell" that Jansing couldn't even be polite about it.

Chris Jansing first was exposed to journalism while doing college radio in Ohio. Originally a political science major, Jansing became hooked on journalism and switched majors to broadcast journalism and graduated from Otterbein College in Ohio in 1978. Jansing was a general assignment and an anchor reporter for WNYT in Albany, New York for 17 years. While there, she won a New York Emmy Award in 1997 for her coverage of the Olympic Park bombing in Atlanta. In 1982, she married Robert Jansing, a chemist, who ran an analytical chemistry laboratory, and in 1998, upon her move to NBC, she began using her married name. She explained it was easier for viewers to pronounce. She and her husband subsequently divorced, but she has continued to use the name "Chris Jansing" professionally.
Chris Jansing joined NBC News in June 1998. She has since anchored and reported for MSNBC, and has been a substitute anchor for The Today Show, and the Sunday version of NBC Nightly News. Chris Jansing is currently anchor of the 10am hour on MSNBC weekdays on Jansing and Company, with Richard Lui regularly serving as a correspondent and substitute anchor.
