June 26, 2014: Darwiniana: Tiresome bullshit at Alternet on the failed, deceptive, if not downright untruthful Cosmos farce. Small wonder science’s reputation if sinking
This piece on the Cosmos series shows why people are beginning to mistrust science: scientists, as in the Cosmos series, are misleading the public on evolution. We have pointed this out a hundred times here, and many times re: Alternet articles. Clearly Alternet is a deceptive and untruthful organization in this regard. The author of this piece is perhaps none the wiser: the phalanx of the systematically confused Darwin idiots.

ON THE RECORD: Feb 11, 2014: Before I go into this, I want it to be clear initially that I am not pro or con on the issue that was the point of the protest and made every effort to ignore the details while I looked at the numbers. My focus is the quality of the reporting and not the politics because, quite frankly, politics pretty much sucks. Now, to the issue, Carly Swanson at Time Warner in Raleigh, North Carolina reported that about "20,000 attend downtown Raleigh Moral March."  She says it was "estimated" but doesnt reveal how that number was reached. That, however,  Aljazeera America announced that "Tens of thousands march against conservative politics in North Carolina." BET reported the same "Tens of Thousands Turn Out for Moral March in Raleigh" the North Carolina University Technician reported that Though the City of Raleigh permit was only for 20,000 attendees the "‘Mass Moral March’ draws 80,000 people " Local North Carolina WITN reported "Thousands At "Moral March" Protest NC Policies" Charlotte Observer also reported: "Charlotte-area residents join thousands to take to the streets of Raleigh for massive march" Then the North Carolina Progressive Pulse in an announce of the upcoming event reported "RSVP’s indicate Saturday’s Moral March will be biggest yet " but said they were expecting 25,000.  In fact they said "While the majority of marchers for the February HKonJ/Moral March event have always come from central North Carolina, these unprecedented RSVP numbers from such a wide array of locations are seen as a strong indication that event attendance could conceivably approach the once seemingly outlandish goal of 25,000." So they got a permit for 20,000, were possibly expecting more up to 25,000. Local press is suggesting anywhere from "thousands" to 20,000. So where is this 80,000 to 100,000 figure come from? The answer is here at Blogging Blue who reported that "Tens of thousands attend ” Moral March on Raleigh “ And the figure came from: "According to the North Carolina NAACP’s estimates, somewhere between 80,000 to 100,000 people marched in Raleigh on Saturday" Among those who parroted those same numbers: Huffington Post, Daily Kos, Salon, The Root, Think Progress, The Nation, Alternet, Democratic Underground, Washington Post  and a whole bunch more. If you are familiar with any of these news outlets then you see the common connection. And the all took their talking points about the march provided by the NAACP. Having once had experience in organizing these kinds of protest events on a slightly smaller scale but utilizing community resources, 20,000 is an impressive number in itself, but it could be that the news outlets that picked that number, since they were mostly local

Dec 30, 2013: Detroit Metro Times: AlterNet’s Top 10 Right-Wing Jaw-Droppers of the Year
America’s right wing is a national embarrassment. On any given day, you can find its leaders spouting racism, pretending poverty doesn’t exist, mocking the idea that climate change is a serious problem, or attempting to restrict the fundamental rights of women.
July 24, 2013: National Review: Alternet vs. Free Speech
Yesterday, someone called Sean McElwee had enough of a sense of humor to post in the “civil liberties” section of the website Alternet an ode to the censorship of free speech. McElwee’s “case for censoring hate speech” comes down to the novel idea that certain groups must be protected from verbally attacks on the Internet lest they come feel that they are unwelcome in society and struggle permanently to recover. If individual websites and social media services will not step in, McElwee pleads, then the state must.
July 9, 2013: Tom Woods: AlterNet Attacks “Right-Wing” Version of Constitution
I don’t have time to reply to this. I don’t even have time to read it. But having been around the block a few times, I can guarantee you this: in the entire article there will be not one word about the ratifying conventions, where Madison says one needs to go to understand the Constitution’s meaning.

2002: Narco News: Ethics Problems at Alternet
Alternet, an "alternative" news organization, which according to statements by its own director has received an estimated million dollars for editorial product, has been less forthcoming. Some of Alternet's ethical lapses have entangled Narco News, and so we feel duty bound to clear the air.
