ON THE RECORD: Apr 30, 2014: Media Matters, in an article written by Ellie Sandmeyer, seems to be in a hurry to place the blame for the latest Benghazi information on Sharryl Attkisson. ("Sharyl Attkisson Writes The Talking Points For Fox's Latest Empty Benghazi Attack"). They basically blame Attkisson for feeding Fox News the latest information about Benghazi and summarize: "As fringe media increasingly embrace Atkinson's shoddy reporting, it's possible that Attkisson may find her place pushing right-wing misinformation at Fox -- as Fox personalities have previously hinted she should."
They are right on one point, and that is that the media is increasingly embracing the information. Though Attkisson has long been ahead on the story, the latest information came from some emails requested by Judicial Watch which indicate the White House was somehow involved in a cover up and purposely sent Susan Rice out to report the misinformation on the Sunday morning talk shows. In fact, if Media Matters is right, (which they aren't as they make no effort to actually tie Attkisson to the Fox News talking points except to suggest that because they are similar that they must be) then Attkisson also fed: ABC News: Reporter jousts with Jay Carney over Benghazi (Video), USA Today Senator: E-mails show how Benghazi story shaped , Daily Beast: Crucial Benghazi Email Finally Revealed, The Washington Post: White House e-mail reinforces Benghazi talking points, CBS News reports: ..Emails illustrate how White House shaped Benghazi talking point and lots of others. I am not sure how they classify what is "fringe" media unless it means "any media that does not agree with Media Matters." Media Matters is so blatantly anti-Fox News that most of their reporting about Fox News is purposely obtuse.
