As I retire after nearly four decades covering Capitol Hill, that contrast and the forces behind it illustrate why I’ve loved covering Congress — and why I’ve recently felt dispirited.

ON THE RECORD: Jan 25, 2014: Alison Frankel (Reuters) reports that "Dinesh D’Souza faces ‘surprisingly frequent’ campaign finance charges." Dinesh D’Souza has been indicted for allegedly paying $20,000 to reimburse straw donors to the campaign of Republican Senate candidate Wendy Long, who lost a 2012 contest against incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand. Walter Olson at the Overlawyered blog is suggesting that D’Souza has been selectively targeted for prosecution because he’s so critical of the Obama administration. Because of the infrequency of cases which are pursued in this issue, Frankel reports: " Is D’Souza being prosecuted because he is a highly visible opponent of the administration? Is the relative frequency of criminal charges from conduit payments more telling than the relative infrequency of prosecution for supposedly illegal payments of only $20,000?" It could very well be that this is another case of the Obamanista a regime going after another person who criticized Obama, and, hence, became and enemy of the State. The Obamanista regime has many charges made against them that indicate they are using the IRS and the Department of Obama Justice to silence anyone who dares to criticize the Obamanista regime.
