June 23, 2023:
👉Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch posted today an article to Twitter of which he announced "Democrat Donor Arrested for Starting Massive Fire Democrats Blamed on Climate Change" from the Washington Free Beacon. Articles from the "Free Beacon" are always suspect to me. They lean far right and make a lot of stuff up just to get traffic through their site. And, of course, after a little research my thoughts were confirmed. The article is not true. It has the picture of the right guy (Edward Frederick Wackerman) of which the LA Times reported about first. Then it appears that after that the right wing media picked it up, starting with Gateway Pundit or Free Beacon and they embellished it with the "he is a Democrat" narrative. But that seems to be what you do lately if you are on right wing media. They mainly do it for click-bait. It gets traffic to their web site. Jim Hoft's Gateway Pundit is one of the worst. He embellishes everything he can to build up his ad grift. I wont look at his web site unless I absolutely have to. The others I noticed, like The Epoch Times, also passed the embellished story along. Fitton and Judicial Watch are part of a sham propaganda machine I call the Right Wing Dumpster Fire.

As I retire after nearly four decades covering Capitol Hill, that contrast and the forces behind it illustrate why I’ve loved covering Congress — and why I’ve recently felt dispirited.

ON THE RECORD: Jan 25, 2014: Alison Frankel (Reuters) reports that "Dinesh D’Souza faces ‘surprisingly frequent’ campaign finance charges." Dinesh D’Souza has been indicted for allegedly paying $20,000 to reimburse straw donors to the campaign of Republican Senate candidate Wendy Long, who lost a 2012 contest against incumbent Kirsten Gillibrand. Walter Olson at the Overlawyered blog is suggesting that D’Souza has been selectively targeted for prosecution because he’s so critical of the Obama administration. Because of the infrequency of cases which are pursued in this issue, Frankel reports: " Is D’Souza being prosecuted because he is a highly visible opponent of the administration? Is the relative frequency of criminal charges from conduit payments more telling than the relative infrequency of prosecution for supposedly illegal payments of only $20,000?" It could very well be that this is another case of the Obamanista a regime going after another person who criticized Obama, and, hence, became and enemy of the State. The Obamanista regime has many charges made against them that indicate they are using the IRS and the Department of Obama Justice to silence anyone who dares to criticize the Obamanista regime.

Laurie Higgins offered a measured but necessary rebuke here at The Stream to David French’s Easter screed for the leftist, Church-bashing New York Times. French compared Trump supporters and election integrity protestors to the violent bandit Barabbas. And to the mob that screamed for Barabbas, but howled to crucify Jesus.
As Higgins pointed out, this wasn’t the most winsome, pastoral attitude for French to strike toward his fellow Christians on our holiest feast day, over a disagreement on presidential politics. Faction über Alles isn’t a good look for Christians. In fact it’s the kind of worldly attitude which NeverTrump moralists routinely attribute to populists, among our many scarlet sins. Higgins made excellent points, but she skipped lightly over one issue which strikes me as crucial, of much greater importance than French himself, his faction, or the quarrels to which they cling. French denounced the “Christian will to power,” and condemned as Barabbas fans conservative believers who seek such power via democratic politics................Nor should we act like progressive Christians and embrace every political “liberation” movement that came along and grabbed its mantle — from women’s liberation to gay liberation and now transgenderism, soon to be followed (4,3,2,1) by liberation for “Minor-Attracted Persons.” That’s “pedophiles” to you and me................Here’s a second response, which doesn’t entail embracing the Woke cult’s exciting new gospel of Antichrist: To tell the truth about the Civil Rights Movement, which is that it was … (sacrilege alert!) a political movement, like any other. Like the pro-life movement, or the gun rights movement, or the movement to protect little kids from groomers.
No, it wasn’t a spiritual crusade, different in kind and more pristine than say, the abolitionist movement or the anti-Communist movement. It was a quest for political power in pursuit of a vision of what is Good, using legal, non-violent, democratic means.
.........French tries to make of the Civil Rights embrace of non-violence some radical imitation of Christ. Maybe it was for some, but first and foremost it was a brilliant political tactic. It showed up the brutality and unfairness of a segregated society for the sympathetic reporters and TV crews of sympathetic national media. Newspapers and TV networks highlighted the violence, which shocked a nation deeply imbued with Christian moral sentiments, disgracing the South and its system. ..............Here’s a second response, which doesn’t entail embracing the Woke cult’s exciting new gospel of Antichrist: To tell the truth about the Civil Rights Movement, which is that it was … (sacrilege alert!) a political movement, like any other. June 3, 2014: The White House announced Bergdahl's release over the weekend after he was held captive for five years in Afghanistan. Fox News has questioned the Obama administration's handling of Bergdahl's release. On Tuesday, host Steve Doocy wondered why President Obama embraced Bergdahl's parents at the White House given reports that Bergdahl had left his post without permission.
Co-host Brian Kilmeade also criticized Bergdahl's father, Robert Bergdahl, for apparently tweeting to a Taliban spokesperson, “I am still working to free all Guantanamo prisoners. God will repay for the death of every Afghan child, ameen.” The tweet was later deleted. Kilmeade continued, “I mean, he says he was growing his beard because his son was in captivity. Well, your son’s out now. So if you really don’t — no longer look like a member of the Taliban, you don’t have to look like a member of the Taliban. Are you out of razors?” --Katharine Fung; Huffington Post: Fox News Host Makes Disgusting Comment About Bowe Bergdahl's Father
