Mar 13, 2023: MSNBC: DOJ dispels Tucker Carlson’s deceptive Jan. 6 narrative
Tucker Carlson’s framing of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol as a peaceful event was deceptive, at best. A new legal filing has given the Justice Department the chance to explain why. Sunday’s filing by the DOJ came in response to Proud Boys member Dominic Pezzola’s motion to dismiss the government’s case against him, citing Carlson’s March 6 show on Fox News. Pezzola, who is now on trial, is charged with seditious conspiracy and other counts in connection with Jan. 6. |
Prosecutors wrote in their filing: The trial record is replete with video, audio, and testimony proving Pezzola’s egregious conduct on January 6, which included viciously assaulting a Capitol Police officer, forcibly taking that officer’s riot shield, threatening other officers, using the shield to shatter a window, and then ... engaging in a standoff with a Capitol Police Inspector mere steps from the Senate Chamber. Of course, thanks to Carlson and his colleagues, Fox News viewers could be less likely to know about such violence that day. |
March 8, 2023: Vanity Fair: “WE’RE ALL EMBARRASSED”: INSIDE FOX NEWS AS DOMINION REVELATIONS RATTLE THE NETWORK
Last month Fox News producers in New York, Washington, and other bureaus were summoned for mandatory training sessions. The topic: libel law.
With Fox facing down two defamation lawsuits that could cost the company billions of dollars, management decided to set up lengthy meetings about legal concepts like “actual malice.” That’s what Dominion Voting Systems and another voting technology company, Smartmatic, are trying to prove: that Fox aired lies about their firms while the people involved knew the claims weren’t true or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. The training “came a little bit late,” one staffer cracked. A producer who attended a late February educational session said Dominion and Smartmatic were not mentioned by name but didn’t have to be: “We all knew why we were there.”

March 9, 2023: Virgina Pilot: Lawsuit against Fox News reveals Tucker Carlson’s caustic texts about Trump: ‘I hate him passionately’
Tucker Carlson wrote “I hate him passionately” in newly released text messages about former President Donald Trump as bipartisan outrage continued to build over the Fox News host’s effort to whitewash the Jan. 6 attack.
Even as he cozied up to Trump in public, the messages show the conservative host actually despises the former president and considers him to be an epic failure.

Mar 8, 2023: Media Matters: By embracing election denialism, Fox Corp. seemingly defied what its shareholders deem to be responsible corporate governance
In March 2021, Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.6 billion defamation suit against Fox Corp., claiming that “Fox sold a false story of election fraud in order to serve its own commercial purposes, severely injuring Dominion in the process.” Recently released filings and documents from the lawsuit have revealed that Fox knew it was broadcasting lies to its viewers — but the Murdochs, Fox Corp.’s board of directors, and other top executives did nothing to stop it. These filings suggest that board members violated their fiduciary duty and top executives neglected their responsibilities, and the behavior seemingly flouts Fox Corp. shareholders’ understanding of responsible corporate governance. |

Feb 28, 2023: Media Matters: Fox News is Republican propaganda, according to Rupert Murdoch
But the second story, buried within the filings, may prove even more devastating to Fox. Dominion, in documenting Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch’s direct oversight of the network, revealed numerous cases in which the Fox News co-founder brazenly used its resources to aid the Republican Party. These include a report that Murdoch shared ads then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s campaign planned to run on the network with then-President Donald Trump’s White House, as well as his repeated and explicit instructions to Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott to use the network to help GOP Senate candidates win their elections.

OAN first came to prominence last fall, after Fox (briefly) refused to lend credence to Donald Trump’s claims of election fraud. OAN and another far-right cable net, Newsmax, soared in the ratings by embracing Trump’s falsehoods. Today both networks, along with Fox, have positioned themselves as firehoses of misinformation and disinformation about the election, the Jan. 6 insurrection and COVID-19.

Oct 8, 2021: Media Matters: Fox News keeps turning vaccine resisters into culture war heroes
Fox News has provided a friendly platform to dozens of people who refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine in recent months. The network’s propagandists often portray those guests as heroes fighting for freedom against “authoritarian” mandates -- even though Fox itself has a vaccine requirement for employees. |
Fox has ignored its moral responsibility to keep its viewers informed (and thus healthy) since the COVID-19 pandemic began, instead treating it primarily as a new culture war issue to exploit for political and financial gain. The emergence of vaccines made no difference. Rather than consistently encouraging viewers to take them, Fox hosts regularly undermined the vaccination campaign, doing so on 181 of 183 days from April 1 through September 30. The network paced the right’s broader anti-vax sabotage effort, which has been devastatingly effective in limiting vaccine uptake among Republicans and thus ensuring higher death tolls among those populations. 10.8.21 |

October 1, 2021:
Fox News host Martha MacCallum said it “kills” her that New Jersey has a program that gives “free lunch” to school children. Seemingly out of nowhere. she added “So, those kids are all going to grow up thinking, well, school lunch is free, right?” Her guest was former Trump economic adviser Larry Kudlow, so I suspect thats why the confusion over whether a kid thinks free lunch is free or whether they think its free or free or free free. Maybe they were rehearsing a Turbo Tax commercial.

Aug 19, 2021: The Wrap: Fox News Now Mandates Staffers to Disclose Vaccine Status or Wear Masks
Fox News leadership reminded staffers to upload proof of their COVID-19 vaccine status Tuesday, regardless of if they work remotely or in one of the company’s offices. Tuesday was the final day to upload the statuses, which were requested in June, according to reports. “All employees must enter their status no later than today, August 17th, by close of business,” wrote Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott in an internal memo reported on by Adweek and CNN. Employees were told to continue masking “in small, confined spaces with limited opportunities for social distancing and where there are multiple employees, including control rooms.” Essential employees are required to be tested for COVID-19 on site once a week, either Monday or Thursday. |

Aug 19, 2021: Daily Mail: Tucker Carlson rails against bid to resettle 'millions' of Afghan refugees before rescuing American citizens trapped in hellish chaos who can't make it to the airport after the Taliban rolled in to Kabul
The host went on to say that the US government is eager to 'change the demographic balance of this country' by 'letting in millions of refugees.'
'Millions is not a handful of loyal Afghan interpreters. That's not even a fleet of cargo planes full of loyal Afghan interpreters.
'Millions is a good chunk of the entire population of Afghanistan, brought to our country at our expense to live in your neighborhood at the very moment our national fabric is fraying.'
Carlson also said that such a decision cannot be questioned because to do so would be simply labelled as 'racist'.

Aug 19, 2021: The Wrap: Tucker Carlson Argues Against Refugees: Ilhan Omar ‘Became Worse After She Got Here’ (Video)
Fox News’ Tucker Carlson ended his 17-minute monologue on Afghan refugees Wednesday night by going after Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has sparred with him indirectly for years.
Carlson rolled some of Omar’s recent comments on accepting refugees, noting that she herself was a refugee from Somalia, before saying he wasn’t going to attack her: “We’re not going to do that. The truth is this is our fault. She is our fault. Ilhan Omar is living proof that we are not very good at resettling refugees. She was saved from a refugee camp in Kenya as a child by the kindness and generosity of America and yet she has grown to hate America and the people who live here. Where did she learn those attitudes? Well, of course, in college — our colleges. We taught her to hate our country. She became worse after she got here.”

"Well, we all -- war is a deadly thing. And I have many Palestinians who live in my district and I am hearing them regularly about how their families are affected who live in the region. It's a terrible thing. But let me just say that any missile that comes from someplace has a return address. And if Israel is responding to that address, then that's a shame that the Palestinians are use -- are rumored to be using children and families as shields for their missiles.....Should we all try to, first of all, avoid conflict, the Hamas initiated this. So again, this has to be something where we try to have the two-state solution, that we have to support -- we have to support Abbas and his role as a leader there. We have to support Iron Dome to protect the Israelis from the missiles. We have to support the Palestinians and what they need. And we have to confer with the Qataris, who have told me over and over again that Hamas is a humanitarian organization, maybe they could use their influence to- Fox News' Megyn Kelly said that Nancy Pelosi seemed to suggest over the weekend that Hamas, which we recognize as a terrorist group, is actually out to do good. Kelly played only the end of CNN discussion - which made it look like Pelosi was agreeing with the Qataris. Kelly shouted in ginned up indignation.
Megyn: It is stunning! It’s not like some crazy fringe group here in America says Hamas is a terrorist organization. The State Department! And she’s out there saying that they’re a humanitarian group and when asked, …"Do you agree?" "Mmm-hmm" is the most she can muster. What just went on there?
