Her guests, Maggie Haberman and Van Jones, praised her performance. However, behind the scenes, CNN staffers are reportedly fuming about the town hall. "You have every right to be outraged today and angry and never watch this network again," Anderson Cooper says. "But do you think staying in your silo and only listening to people you agree with is going to make that person go away?" |

Jacqui Heinrich of Fox News, who also serves on the WHCA board, pressed the point by noting the merry-go-round of silence among the administration.
“Since so many of our questions have been referred to the DOJ and to the White House counsel’s office, I’m sure you can understand that we’re in sort of an information blackout,” Heinrich told Jean-Pierre.

Mar 13, 2015: The Guardian: Feminists don't hate men. But it wouldn't matter if we did
But a younger generation of feminists has embraced what Slate writer Amanda Hess calls “ironic misandry”. Hess wrote last year that the rise in popularity of “male tears” mugs and man-hating inspired shirts and crafts serves as a sort of fuck-you to the constant barrage of harassment that feminists often face: “On its most basic level, ironic misandry functions like a stuck-out tongue pointed at a playground bully.” Jan 8, 2014: The Star: Threats, abuse part of ‘online life’ for women
American freelance journalist Amanda Hess, who writes about women, Hollywood, sex and feminism, was 12 hours into a vacation in Palm Springs last summer when a friend sent her an urgent text at 5:30 a.m. “Freaking out over here,” the friend wrote. “There is a twitter account that seems to have been set up for the purpose of making death threats to you.” |
May 10, 2013: Hess first published for T magazine about a Hollywood party for the year's Playboy Playmate of the Year.

Jamelle Bouie says black Americans cant succeed because of "housing discrimination" and "poverty" which basically means "White people" (Down and Out) Amanda Hess has already decided that David Letterman's replacement will likely be a white guy (Go Ahead, Give David Letterman's Gig to Another White Guy) William Saletan encourages people to destroy the lives of at least 435 people because they don't support gay marriage and , hence, should be unemployed (Purge the Bigots) Mark Joseph Stern tells us that anyone (like the majority of California Voters) were "cruel: for supporting the "cruel" campaign (Just a Reminder: The Campaign for Prop 8 Was Unprecedentedly Cruel) Amy S.F. Lutz applauds electrified autistic kids for their health (Why I Got Electroconvulsive Therapy for My Autistic Son) Bryan Lowder applauds Honey Maid for making a gay graham cracker commercial and implies if you are a company that hasn't made a gay commercial you must be a homophobe. Under immense pressure following a record defamation lawsuit, and with ratings down following the departure of Tucker Carlson, Fox News announced a new schedule with host Jesse Watters' show now airing at 8 p.m. ET. Advertisers should beware, given that the network appears to be lifting up the same extremism that led to its current crisis.
Starting in The O’Reilly Factor days with his “Watters’ World” segments, Jesse Watters honed his frat boy style with smug interviews mocking his subjects alongside blatant racism and sexism. In June 2015, Watters produced a cruel, dehumanizing segment shaming unhoused people in New York City’s Penn Station and stressing that they are breaking the law, juxtaposed against interviews with those who found homeless people to be a nuisance. He made a follow-up segment a month later, agreeing with host Bill O'Reilly at the end that people experiencing homelessness “shouldn't be allowed to destroy neighborhoods.” (Hosting his own Fox show in September 2022, Watters called homeless people “an invasive species.”)

June 28, 2015: New York Times: 5 Days That Left a Confederate Flag Wavering, and Likely to Fall
Inside the old granite State House in South Carolina, one day after the massacre in a Charleston church, an African-American receptionist politely gave everyone who called to complain about the Confederate battle flag the same response: “Sorry, there’s nothing to be done.”
But Karen Hunter, one of those callers, would not let it go. “If we all had that attitude,” Ms. Hunter told her, “we’d still be slaves.” Within hours, Ms. Hunter drafted an online petition that demanded the flag’s removal from the State House grounds. It would be signed by more than 566,000 people.

The problem is that so many Republicans still, despite an ocean of evidence to the contrary, believe Donald Trump, of all the damn people in this world, is the solution. Never forget that Hitler was Germany's solution....and "Final Solution" at that....and we all know how that worked out. (Substitute "Jew" for anyone to the left of GOP leadership. )
