Feb 20, 2015: MSNBC: Dems desire a competitive primary race
Some of Hillary's biggest supporters want to see a competitive presidential primary in 2016, saying it would be good for the party. Slate’s Jamelle Bouie, the Bernard Center’s Michelle Bernard, and the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank join the conversation.

![]() Vitriol On The Record: Apr 4, 2014: Slate has officially become the armpit of the internet. If you are a fan of vitriol, thuggery, crudeness, obnoxiousness, and a long list of other negatives, then Slate is the place to be. Just a sampling of today's articles are:
Jamelle Bouie says black Americans cant succeed because of "housing discrimination" and "poverty" which basically means "White people" (Down and Out) Amanda Hess has already decided that David Letterman's replacement will likely be a white guy (Go Ahead, Give David Letterman's Gig to Another White Guy) William Saletan encourages people to destroy the lives of at least 435 people because they don't support gay marriage and , hence, should be unemployed (Purge the Bigots) Mark Joseph Stern tells us that anyone (like the majority of California Voters) were "cruel: for supporting the "cruel" campaign (Just a Reminder: The Campaign for Prop 8 Was Unprecedentedly Cruel) Amy S.F. Lutz applauds electrified autistic kids for their health (Why I Got Electroconvulsive Therapy for My Autistic Son) Bryan Lowder applauds Honey Maid for making a gay graham cracker commercial and implies if you are a company that hasn't made a gay commercial you must be a homophobe. (Honey Maid Makes Art (and a Great Ad) Out of Hate Comments can be made here: Slate has officially become the armpit of the internet. ![]() ON THE RECORD: Apr 1, 2014: I posted this in the comments section of an article today:' This has got to be one of the most racist and race baiting article i have read in recent times. This author and Slate should be embarrassed for trying to pass this off as journalism. " The article was from Slate, and just the title makes you think where its probably going to go ("Why Whites Support Capital Punishment"). And author Jamelle Bouie does not disappoint. Through a lengthy effort to justify his position he goes back to the 1700s and then Louisiana history in the 19th century and then attempts to bring it all up into the 20th by century by noting that "it’s noteworthy that as late as 1954, rape was a capital offense in every state of the former Confederacy, and five retained the death penalty for arson.." And this has what to do with race? He cites as some sort of "proof" in the writings of a book called "Persuasion and Resistance: Race and the Death Penalty in America" (written by Mark Peffley & Jon Hurwitz). What Bouie leaves out is the book summary which says "Although there exists a large and well-documented “race gap” between whites and blacks in their support for the death penalty, we know relatively little about the nature of these differences and how the races respond to various arguments against the penalty." Anyway, the conclusion is that if you are white and support the capital punishment it's because you are racist. So I restate: This author and Slate should be embarrassed for trying to pass this off as journalism.
