Via the Hugh Hewitt Show, he means “lying,” I think, but I’ll let the man choose his own words. He doesn’t say which comments specifically he finds insulting but it’s probably the one where Carney tried to convince everyone that Ben Rhodes was merely linking the Mohammed video to the protests around the region, not … the murder of a U.S. ambassador that had been on the front page of every newspaper in America for three days.

ON THE RECORD: Apr 30, 2014: Media Matters, in an article written by Ellie Sandemeyer, seems to be in a hurry to place the blame for the latest Benghazi information on Sharryl Attkisson. ("Sharyl Attkisson Writes The Talking Points For Fox's Latest Empty Benghazi Attack"). They basically blame Attkisson for feeding Fox News the latest information about Benghazi and summarize: "As fringe media increasingly embrace Atkinson's shoddy reporting, it's possible that Attkisson may find her place pushing right-wing misinformation at Fox -- as Fox personalities have previously hinted she should."
They are right on one point, and that is that the media is increasingly embracing the information. Though Attkisson has long been ahead on the story, the latest information came from some emails requested by Judicial Watch which indicate the White House was somehow involved in a cover up and purposely sent Susan Rice out to report the misinformation on the Sunday morning talk shows. In fact, if Media Matters is right, (which they aren't as they make no effort to actually tie Attkisson to the Fox News talking points except to suggest that because they are similar that they must be) then Attkisson also fed: ABC News: Reporter jousts with Jay Carney over Benghazi (Video), USA Today Senator: E-mails show how Benghazi story shaped , Daily Beast: Crucial Benghazi Email Finally Revealed, The Washington Post: White House e-mail reinforces Benghazi talking points, CBS News reports: ..Emails illustrate how White House shaped Benghazi talking point and lots of others. I am not sure how they classify what is "fringe" media unless it means "any media that does not agree with Media Matters." Media Matters is so blatantly anti-Fox News that most of their reporting about Fox News is purposely obtuse.

Further complicating matters for the White House, spokesman Jay Carney was at a loss for words when confronted in a press briefing with a new report that among Obama's White House staffers, the median salary for females was 12% lower than male staffers. Carney insisted, "We have as an institution here, have aggressively addressed this challenge, and obviously, though, at the 88 cents that you cite, that is not a hundred, but it is better than the national average. And when it comes to the bottom line, women who do the same work as men have to be paid the same, there is no question that that is happening here at the White House at every level."In effect, Carney undercut Obama's wage-gap ploy by acknowledging that "women who do the same work as men have to be paid the same." That is the law. And across the nation, the wage parity gap is very narrow.

Jan 24, 2014: Mike Huckabee's comments before the Republican National Committe which reaped dissaproval from the White House and Jay Carney: "Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anyone else can do. Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That's not a war on them; it's a war for them. "And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it. Let us take that discussion all across America – because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be. And women across America need to stand up and say 'Enough of that nonsense.'"Women I know are outraged that the Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have the government provide for them birth control medication."
![]() Jan 25, 2014: The Pakalert Press has posed the question of who paid for Michelle Obama's birthday party. )"ABC reporter asks who paid for Michelle’s birthday party; Carney won’t say"). ABC's White House correspondent, Jonathan Karl, asked Jay Carney: “The first lady had her 50th birthday party and I believe you said that the president picks up the cost for that party?” Pakalert reports: “I think we put out information on that,” Carney said. “I don’t have it here. I refer you to the East Wing.” The White House’s East Wing includes the office space for the first lady and her staff. “I was just wondering if you have an estimate on what the cost was?” Karl prodded.
“I don’t, but I would refer you to the East Wing,” Carney said, putting an end to this line of questioning. Acting on Carney’s statement, “I think we put out information on that,” White House “Statements & Releases” going back two weeks make no mention of who’s footing the bill for the first lady’s celebration. The only mention of her birthday among the White House blogs within the same two-week time frame is one dated Jan. 17, titled, Our 15 Favorite FLOTUS Moments for the First Lady’s 50th Birthday."

![]() Mar 12, 2014: Tina Daunt (Hollywood Reporter) reports that "ObamaCare Website Traffic Spikes After President's 'Funny or Die' Interview." Crooks and Liars ("Obama’s Appearance on Funny or Die Causes Healthcare.gov Visits to Surge!") said that "Despite several media outlets initially mocking Funny or Die’s promotion of ObamaCare, the national recognition that came from Between Two Ferns shows just how much power the comedy site holds. White House Entertainment Advisory Council co-chair Eric Ortner said, “This is a perfect example of a great partnership with Funny or Die stepping up in a big way. The site has a very robust traffic base of young men and women who are on the edge of the cultural zeitgeist. It has an organic reach, and now the traditional media will be talking about it for days.” Daunt reports on comments by Jay Carney when asked is the presidency was damaged in any way by the spoof: "No," Carney replied. "We, obviously, assess opportunities that we have and look at whether or not they're going to be successful and wise, and I think we made the right call here … I think the average video gets something like 6 million views. I'm convinced we're going to break that average." "I can assure you that the Funny or Die video will be one of the reasons we get young Americans to HealthCare.gov, one of the reasons we get young Americans to enroll in health insurance programs, but not the only one," Carney added. Then Crooks and Liars says: "Despite the video’s clear success, conservatives immediately fired back with their criticisms. Texas congressman Randy Weber, who previously called Obama “a socialistic dictator,” tweeted that the president had demeaned his office and should instead be focused on Benghazi or fixing the “failed” Affordable Care Act." C&L claims to love the "irony" of the success of the video's popularity vs the critical media. The only problem is that they are weighing the numbers of viewers to mean success. All you have to do is look at the track record of Rebecca Blacks first video and know that viewership does not always mean success. Clearly there's a lot of people who like to watch train wrecks. Personally, I thought Rebecca Black's Video was more entertaining. And the stats are missing for Jay Carneys information. Going to the website does not mean success unless you just want a lot of people to read what you have.

Getting them to pay and actually sign up is a different number. And the number of people who actually paid is the most significant number. At any rate, the initial idea behind the original proposal was to get people insured who need it. The Affordable Care Act is an utter failure on that point. The numbers of people, whatever they actually may be, are not people who have no insurance, they are people who have it already and now are being passed around to new insurance carriers. The insurance companies still win and, hence, the ACA is a complete and utter failure and will remain a failure until it is able to apply what was its original proposition: To insure the uninsured.
