![]() Z-NEWS NOTES: Jan 7. 2013: Janet Shan (Hinterland Gazette) says the people over at Breitbart are racist. In an article posted about Michelle Obama's vacation Shan writes: "The wingnuts at Breitbart couldn’t help but scare up some racist frenzy over First Lady Michelle Obama staying over in Hawaii as a birthday gift. Joel Pollack couldn’t help himself, he just had to throw it out for the site’s racist fans to have a feeding frenzy." Though I dislike blanket statements of charges of "racism," some of the comments on the Breitbart thread are clearly over top. The Breitbart article by Joel Pollak is: "President Leaves Hawaii, Michelle Obama Stays on as 'Birthday Present'."

In 2010 Pollak was the Republican nominee for U.S. Congress from Illinois's 9th congressional district, challenging incumbent Democrat Jan Schakowsky, whom he had voted for while still a Democrat (prior to 2006). He lost, garnering 31.1% of the votes to Schakowsy's 66.3%. Pollak was endorsed by the Chicago Tea Party and refers to himself as a Tea Party Republican. After the election, Pollak was asked by Andrew Breitbart to become in-house counsel at his Breitbart.com websites, and Pollak moved to California. He also became editor-in-chief of the website.
