Jan 5, 2014: Chicago Pride: Illinois GOP Rep. Aaron Schock locks Instagram following latest gay rumor
Hod's post, which never directly named Schock, ended with a link to the AmericaBlog.com piece and Instagram photos. The stories have gone viral on social media. Apr 30, 2013: One Angry Queer: A Letter to John Aravosis (and Other Progressives Who Just Don't Get It)
In case everyone else reading this doesn't know who he is, John Aravosis is the founder and a major contributor to a liberal-progressive blog called "AMERICAblog." Apr 1, 2013: USA Survival News: Gay Propaganda Campaign Takes Offensive Turn
John Aravosis, the homosexual activist who runs Americablog.com, said this is part of a propaganda campaign to normalize homosexuality. He said, “The kiss has been quite a powerful political weapon in the gay arsenal for a while now. And checking our archives, it’s rather amazing how important the ‘gay kiss’ has been to our political struggle over the years.” Dec 10, 2011: ENDAblog: John Aravosis is a Disingenuous Transphobic Shyster
But we already knew that, didn’t we? Well, if there were any doubts, take a look at a paragraph of prototypical gay-primacy legal ‘analysis’ three-card monte that he slipped into a post about Frankenphobe’s year-in-advance exit interview with Queer Channel Media May 10, 2011: Peoples View: As Gay Donors Flock to Obama, John Aravosis Lies to Discredit the President
Now that gay donors seem to be loving Obama again, the Professional Left "pundits" like John Aravosis of "Americablog Gay" are scrambling to figure out a way to deny the President any credit for the achievements that have been accomplished. In his latest, desperate, sad attempts to do so, he employs an age-old, time-tested political tool: lying. After a year and a half of an embarrassing campaign to block money to the DNC (waged at the same time, mind you, when President Obama and Democrats in Congress waged a long term, strategic battle to get all these things above done and passed) that seems to now be collapsing and embarrassing its creators - the same John Aravosis - he is reduced to claiming credit for the Professional Left and outright lying about President Obama. July 20, 2010: Washington Post: Altered BP photo comes into question
John Aravosis pointed out the alterations Monday evening on his Americablog.com and observed, "I guess if you're doing fake crisis response, you might as well fake a photo of the crisis response center." The photo doctoring comes as BP has promised transparency in a bid to regain the public's trust. |
Sept 28, 2010: CBS News: Joe Biden's "Stop Whining" Remark Incites Backlash from the Left
John Aravosis of Americablog.com charged that belittling the Democratic base is "now clearly a White House strategy." "I can't for the life of me understand what the White House thinks it gains by continually poking the base - the people who actually vote in mid-term elections - only five weeks before the election," Aravosis wrote. "The President, rather famously, routinely refuses to stand up to conservative Democrats and Republicans, and it's likely the primary reason we're about to lose the House." Aravosis contends that Mr. Obama should have made the economic stimulus package bigger but instead chose to compromise with moderates. "The entire country, all of us with friends and family members currently out of a job, are paying dearly for this mistake," he wrote. "So for him and his to tell us and ours to stop whining is pretty pathetic."

Aug 28, 2008: Metro Weekly: Strange Blogfellows
Born just a few months apart and thousands of miles from each other, both John Aravosis and Andrew Sullivan today call Washington home. And both exemplify the heights of blogging, gay or otherwise. Sullivan has a reputation for ringing in from the right, while Aravosis is as staunchly red-white-and-Democrat as they come.

June 30, 2008: Right Wing Nut House: HONESTLY, IS JOHN ARAVOSIS A PIECE OF EXCREMENT OR WHAT?
This piece on McCain by Aravosis may be the most inelegant political attack I’ve ever seen. Not only is it a vile, worthless, mindlessly idiotic recounting of this Peeping Tom’s idea of McCain’s military service but the obliviousness of Aravosis to the upchucking irony in his calling anyone out for making propaganda is outrageously, hysterically inappropriate.

John Aravosis (born 27 November 1963) is an American Democratic political consultant, writer, gay activist and blogger. Aravosis, an attorney who lives in Washington, D.C., is the founder of AMERICAblog and a co-founder of StopDrLaura.com. Aravosis is a lawyer and worked on Capitol Hill as a foreign policy adviser for Ted Stevens, a Republican senator in the late 1980s and early 1990s before becoming a Democrat. He subsequently worked at the World Bank, the Children's Defense Fund, and then started his own political Internet consulting business in 1997 and AMERICAblog, a liberal news blog dealing in politics (because, according to its masthead, "a great nation deserves the truth"), in 2004. He has also written as a stringer for The Economist and Radar. He has a joint law degree and masters in foreign service from Georgetown, where he studied under former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. In June 2009, The Advocate listed AMERICAblog on its list of top fifteen gay blogs. The blogs were not ranked.
AMERICAblog is a liberal American blog founded by John Aravosis in April 2004, with several co-bloggers. The blog helped expose Jeff Gannon in 2005, and in 2006 helped make cell phone privacy an issue by obtaining Gen. Wesley Clark's call records. The blog focuses on U.S. politics. AMERICAblog first received widespread media attention after it revealed that Jeff Gannon, a member of the White House press corps with a reputation for asking 'softball' questions at opportune moments for Press Secretary Scott McClellan, was actually James Guckert and had advertised his services as a gay male escort. In 2006, Aravosis learned that anyone could buy someone else's cell phone records, as advertised by several websites. He purchased the call records of former Presidential candidate and Supreme Allied Commander of NATO General Wesley Clark for $89.95, bringing the issue widespread attention. In September 2006, California passed a state law banning the practice of pretexting, or pretending to be someone else, used by the websites, with the bill's sponsor specifically citing the AMERICAblog coverage. Clark became an advocate of cell record privacy bills in Congress. Within months, Congress passed a law restricting these records.
