Louis Carl "Lou" Dobbs (born September 24, 1945)
Lou Dobbs, a nationally known broadcast journalist, moved to Rupert with his parents and elder brother, Stephen, in 1957 when he was 12. He is the son of Frank William and Lydia Mae Hensley Dobbs. Lou Dobbs was born in Childress, Texas. His father took a job in propane sales in Rupert, and his mother worked as bookkeeper. The television and radio host graduated from Minico High School in 1963. He was student body president, played offensive tackle on the football team, played the sousaphone in the band, and was the 1961 American Legion Oratorical Contest state champion.
The Minico Spartan was accepted at the University of Idaho, Idaho State University and Boise Junior College. But the Minico principal, his guidance counselor and a teacher all recommended he apply to Harvard University. They even paid the $25 application fee. He was admitted, and Harvard offered him a full scholarship. Dobbs took a train on his first trip to the East. He played football at Harvard, but a knee injury as a sophomore ended that career. He graduated from Harvard in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Dobbs briefly attended law school at the University of Idaho. Feb 7, 2005: Mother Jones: Exporting America: An Interview With Lou Dobbs
The CNN anchor is mad as hell about offshore outsourcing and faith-based economics.
When American manufacturing jobs headed overseas in the 1990s, supporters of tariff-free trade argued that newly unemployed workers could simply find jobs in the growing high-tech sector. Yet multinational corporations soon outsourced white-collar and service-industry jobs as well, with overseas labor fielding support questions from computer users, programming software, and even examining X-rays and MRI scans for American consumers.
Outsourcing has found a fierce opponent in journalist Lou Dobbs. Since 2003, his CNN news show Lou Dobbs Tonight has featured a recurring segment in which Dobbs and his team report on corporations sending jobs overseas. He has compiled an online list of outsourcers, and recently wrote a book on the practice entitled Exporting America. Dobbs recently spoke with MotherJones.com about outsourcing and its effects, current and potential, on the American economy.

Lou Dobbs anchored CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight until November 2009 when he announced on the air that he would leave the network. He was born in Texas and lived there and in Idaho during his childhood. After graduating from Harvard University, Dobbs worked in government and banking before becoming a news reporter for several local media outlets. He had worked with CNN since its founding in 1980, serving as a reporter and vice president. He was the host and managing editor for CNN's Moneyline, which premiered in 1980 and was renamed Lou Dobbs Tonight in 2003. Dobbs resigned from CNN in 1999, rejoined in 2000, and resigned again in November 2009, when he joined Fox News. He also hosts a syndicated radio show, Lou Dobbs Radio and has written several books since 2001. Dobbs describes himself as an "independent populist" and is known for his opposition to NAFTA and support for immigration enforcement. For his reporting, he has won Emmy, Peabody, and Cable ACE awards.
The Southern Poverty Law Center asked CNN in July 2009 to fire Dobbs over what it called his "racist conspiracy theories." And it put CNN President Jon Klein in an uncomfortable position, simultaneously insisting in a memo to his staff that the story about the president's birth certificate was "dead" and telling the Los Angeles Times that he trusted Dobbs to exercise his judgment on whether to keep pursuing it.
In Oct 2009, Dobbs said on air that shots had been fired at his New Jersey home while he and his wife were outside. On his radio show, which he plans to continue, Dobbs tied the shooting to his immigration stance, saying: "The national liberal media has chosen sides. And they have decided that they're going to focus on the liberal view, which is that they will embrace illegal immigration no matter who is harmed, no matter how many laws are broken, or how few consequences there are for breaking those laws. My wife has now been, and I have been, shot at." An official with the New Jersey State Police played down the incident, telling the Huffington Post that a hunter was probably to blame and that the stray bullet hit the attic of Dobbs's house.
Lou Dobbs suggests his form of advocacy journalism fell out of favor when President Obama was elected and his ratings began to decline. Dobbs, who had come under fire from watchdog groups because of his on-air, anti-immigration stance, told Bill O'Reilly Monday on the Fox News Channel that he never heard directly from CNN management that he made the network look bad - but there was a tonal change when Obama became President. "You know, I discern more of a difference between then, which was under the Bush administration whom I was criticizing, and now, when it is the Obama administration and an entirely different tone was taken," Dobbs said. ![]() Jan 3, 2014: Michael Scheuer Hates Tyrants and War
Michael Scheuer has written a column on his website titled "The desperate U.S.-UK relationship: Barack Obama, David Cameron, and the NSA/GCHQ issue." (Published Dec 23). In it he critiques Barack Obama and David Cameron for having "followed the lie-strewn path toward the West’s destruction first blazed by Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Tony Blair" and blasts Cameron and Obama for their fouled efforts in dealing with the Muslims on the world stage. He continues, "Obama and Cameron and their supporters in all parties would do well to read the words of the great 17th century English republican Algernon Sidney, a man who was revered on both sides of the Atlantic, who greatly influenced America’s founders, and who was executed by the British Crown for what it described as sedition" and ends up with "If he [a political leader] be justly accounted an enemy of all, who injures all; he above all must be the publick enemy of a nation, who by usurping power over them, does the greatest and most publick injury that a people can suffer. For which reason, by an established law among the most virtuous nations, every man might kill a tyrant; and no names are recorded in history with more honor, than of those who did it." I have read 4 articles which slam Scheuer's article claiming that Scheuer had " Endorsed Assassinating Obama Last Week" which is part of the article title by Matt Gertz at Media Matters. At News Hounds: "Fox News Regular Michael Scheuer Suggests Assassinating President Obama And David Cameron." At the Daily Beast (by author David Frum): "Michael Scheuer’s Meltdown." The 4th is not really an article but a notice on a blog called "Say It Ain't So" and includes a copy of the tweet by Gertz that said: "Ten days ago Michael Scheuer endorsed assassinating Obama. Last night he went on Fox (and then he links to his article on Media Matters.)It appeared that only people from the left were assuming the intention of Scheuer's article to be an assassination endorsement. Then I thought I found another affirmation from the right side in Moe Lane at Red State who penned an article "Prominent anti-war loon Michael Scheuer calls for assassination of @BarackObama." But After Lane attempted to reason Scheuer's comments to make that intention he articulates "Umm. NO." Lane clarifies that Scheuer is against war. Lane also admits to being against war. Who should not be against war?? Scheuer is also against tyranny. |
So are most sensible people. Scheuer's point I believe, was that tyrants are not bound by the law, hence it is not law that can remove them from power. Media Matters seems bothered that shortly after Sheuer's article he appeared with Lou Dobbs on Fox Business Network and since Dobbs didn't bring it up, Fox News must be endorsing the the assassination of Barack Obama and David Cameron. News Hounds follows suit but News Hounds only exists to be anti-Fox so its expected.

Lou Dobbs, business anchor, offers a lot of truly excellent and a little really atrocious advice to the Republican Party in his new book Upheaval, released on January 7, 2014, which he discussed in his January 6 broadcast "Steps to creating a winning election strategy for the Republican Party." ............The problem is that Dobbs insists that the Republican Party must abandon social issues. He argues passionately that the Republican Party must not give up even a single voter to the Democrats. Yet he then immediately recommends abandoning, alienating, and irritating the largest bloc of voters within the Republican Party: social conservatives, including socially conservative Hispanics and Catholics and Reagan Democrats. (SOURCE: Jonathan Moseley: American Thinker: "Lou Dobbs Drinks the Insider Kool-Aid")
Dobbs offers some good advice, for example, by following "a temperate foreign policy, a prudent fiscal policy, a pro-economic growth policy, a pro-prosperity policy and equal opportunity for all within our borders. To create a nation that is prosperous, that is at peace, and is focused on a brighter future rather than creating more debt for our children.” He then added this poison pill. Claiming that 78 percent of Americans “support legal abortions in at least some circumstances and the recent momentum for same-sex marriage, Dobbs calls for Republicans to forget the focus on social issues and embrace an economic agenda that will appeal to a wide swath of voters.” (SOURCE: Jan 8, 2014; Godfather Politics: Gary DeMar: "The Lou Dobbs Poison Pill that Will Kill the GOP")

![]() Jan 18, 2014: Jonathon Moseley (American Thinker) has written a review of Lou Dobbs in light of his new book, "Upheaval." The title of the article make sit clear of the authors opinion: "Lou Dobbs Drinks the Insider Kool-Aid". It has some good stuff, but also some not so good: "Dobbs's new book is a must-read; overall, the GOP should elect Lou Dobbs as its next party chairman. Though you may need to skip a few chapters." And the problem? "The problem is that Dobbs insists that the Republican Party must abandon social issues. Lou Dobbs has drunk the "Inside the Beltway Kool-Aid." He wants the GOP to pander to voters with very low probabilities of ever being persuaded to vote Republican, while alienating voters with a very high probability of voting Republican. This contradiction is a problem which business reporter Dobbs should be able to recognize." Moseley goes on to give examples of why Dobbs kind of thinking has not helped the Republican Party and has, as a matter of fact, crippled it. In summary: "The
Republican Party cannot get better results because its leadership and
"strategists" fail to identify the real causes of what is
happening. When Democrats and reporters try to ridicule Republicans,
including on social issues, Republicans need to figure out how to handle
it and respond effectively." Good luck to them. Their usual response is to go into defense mode.
