Sept 9, 2015: Jonathan Tobin: Commentary: Will Huckabee’s Kentucky Stunt Save Him?
Getting between a politician and a live microphone is always a perilous occupation but there was probably no more dangerous place in America than the spot next to Kim Davis yesterday as she was released from jail. A judge let the nation’s most famous county clerk out of jail on Monday afternoon after spending five days in prison for refusing court orders to issue same-sex marriage licenses. Davis emerged from the Carter County Detention Center undaunted by her experience and seemingly comfortable assuming the role of social conservative martyr. But next to her and holding her hand aloft in triumph was none other than Mike Huckabee.

ON THE RECORD: Feb 27, 2014: Michael Allen (Opposing Views) reports that "Fox News Hosts, Contributors Fundraise for Republicans" and you can clearly tell this author doesn't care for Fox News much. Of course, Allen cites Media Matters as a source and that kind of adds to the fire. Unfortunately, Media Matters is so blindly anti-Fox that they have become journalistically stunted and lack objectivity. For example, Allen writes: "According to MediaMatters.org, Fox News hosts Mike Huckabee, Oliver North and Andrea Tantaros, as well as Fox News contributors John Bolton, Deneen Borelli, Ben Carson, Sarah Palin, Karl Rove and Allen West are appearing at “Lincoln Day Dinners,” which raise money for various Republicans." The problem is, that with the exception of Mike Huckabee, none of the listed are hosts. They are Fox News contributors. Allen notes that "Fox News contributor Tucker Carlson was paid $23,500 to keynote the Oregon Lane County Republican Party Lincoln Day dinner in 2011." So he even calls him a contributor but still treats him like a "host," which, BTW, Carlson was not a host on Fox News in 2011. But, even still, he was a paid speaker. Allen notes "In contrast, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz recently pulled out of next month's Broward County Democrats Unity Dinner when it was revealed to be a fundraiser, reported Politico." Schultz is a host and not a contributor. MSNBC's Keith Olbermann got a suspension when it was revealed that he had contributed to a Democrat but, again, he was a host and not a contributor. A host can be available to speak to anyone, he just cannot donate to the campaigns. Schultz probably got more news about pulling out of the event then he would have gotten if he had attended. And the PR is the same: Schultz is Democrat. Who does not know that? Republicans can hire him to speak also, it's just not very likely that they would. Truth be told, an unbias media is a myth. The pundits who feign objectivity are, to me, the worst offenders. They lead people to believe that what they are saying is true because they are being most objective about it. No one gets taken in by the devil, they get taken in by the devil pretending to be an angel. To Comment Go here: Truth be told, an unbias media is a myth.

Dec 12, 2007: Asked in a CNN debate what Jesus would do about capital punishment, Huckabee responded that Jesus was too smart to run for public office. On another occasion, queried if only Baptists go to heaven, he remarked that not even all the Baptists he knows will get past the pearly gates. Such jokes are designed to give outsiders the impression that Huckabee couldn’t be all that religious. But they are really just witty formulations of standard evangelical doctrine, things not even the most ardent country Baptist preacher could disagree with. The Rev. Wallace Edgar is such a preacher. He has known Mike Huckabee for more than 20 years, since they led Baptist churches near each other in Texarkana. Wallace is a big Huckabee fan. ‘‘Mike was very conservative with the Scriptures, he didn’t deviate from the Word,’’ he told me. Some born-again Christians don’t like Huckabee’s light touch, or the fact that he has involved himself in secular politics at all. A few even accuse him of neglecting the obligation to engage in personal evangelism. Huckabee addressed this issue in September, in an interview with The Baptist Press. ‘‘In fact, I think I’ve had far more opportunities because of my position as a governor and now as a candidate for president to share my faith,’’ he told Will Hall, a reporter for the paper. ‘‘Nobody’s paying me; nobody’s forcing me to talk about what Christ means to me, and when I’m able to share it, I think it has a, you know, a very dramatic and powerful impact, and they know it’s what really drives me and explains me, if you will.’’
In late November, Huckabee began running a short television ad called ‘‘Believe.’’ It starts with the candidate declaring, ‘‘Faith doesn’t just influence me, it really defines me.’’ As he speaks, the words ‘‘Christian Leader’’ flash across the screen. This ad was, of course, directed at the evangelical voters of Iowa. But it has also caught the attention of big-time figures in evangelical Christianity, many of whom have refrained from supporting Huckabee’s candidacy. This failure has puzzled and angered the governor. At the Olive Garden he spoke with bitterness about Richard Land, the president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. ‘‘Richard Land swoons for Fred Thompson,’’ he said. ‘‘I don’t know what that’s about. For reasons I don’t fully understand, some of these Washington-based people forget why they are there. They make ‘electability’ their criterion. But I am a true soldier for the cause. If my own abandon me on the battlefield, it will have a chilling effect.’’ (SOURCE: Zev Chafets: New York Times: "The Huckabee Factor")

He was a candidate in the 2008 United States Republican presidential primaries, finishing second in delegate count and third in both popular vote and number of states won (behind both John McCain and Mitt Romney). He won the Iowa Republican caucuses. Huckabee exited the race as McCain became the presumptive Republican nominee after winning the delegate-rich winner-take-all states of Florida, California, and New York. Huckabee is the author of several best selling books, an ordained Southern Baptist minister, musician and a public speaker. He is also an ABC Radio political commentator. Huckabee currently hosts the Fox News Channel talk show Huckabee. Since April 2, 2012, he is the host of The Mike Huckabee Show on weekday afternoons for Cumulus Media Networks.

Dec 13, 2013: Daniel Doherty, of Townhall.com, believes Mike Huckabee "Sure Looks Like He's Running in 2016." but says his chances of winning "are not good." Valerie Strauss in a Washington Post Op-Ed today noted that Huckabee might be preparing for a Republican run by "walking back" his original support for Common Core, which he said was "near and dear" to his heart since he served as Arkansas governor.

May 6, 2013: Mackenzie Weinger (Politico) reported that Mike Huckabee on Monday predicted that President Barack Obama won’t finish out his second term in light of the “cover-up” of the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi and the former Arkansas governor called the affair “more serious than Watergate.” “I believe that before it’s all over, this president will not fill out his full term. I know that puts me on a limb,” the former Arkansas governor said on “The Mike Huckabee Show.” “But this is not minor. It wasn’t minor when Richard Nixon lied to the American people and worked with those in his administration to cover-up what really happened in Watergate. But, I remind you — as bad as Watergate was, because it broke the trust between the president and the people, no one died. This is more serious because four Americans did in fact die." ("Huckabee: Benghazi will drive Obama from office")

Jan 24, 2014: Mike Huckabee's comments before the Republican National Committe which reaped dissaproval from the White House and Jay Carney: "Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anyone else can do. Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That's not a war on them; it's a war for them. "And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government, then so be it. Let us take that discussion all across America – because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be. And women across America need to stand up and say 'Enough of that nonsense.'"Women I know are outraged that the Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have the government provide for them birth control medication."

Jan 25, 2014: .Regardless of what you might hear, all women are NOT offended by what Mike Huckabee said this week. The blogger who goes by the name of Karen posted over at the Lonely Conservative that "I’m A Woman And Nothing Mike Huckabee Said Offended Me." She doesn't accept the main stream medias banter which are throwing around that ignorant "war on women" cliche and says: "He didn’t insult women, he insulted Democrats. Actually, he pointed out the Democrats’ evil MO. As a woman, I’m offended every day by the disgusting identity politics the Democrats have turned into a macabre art form." Karen affirms my position when she writes: "he was only reacting to this bogus “war on women” meme the Democrats have made up." Nuff said. As I have states before, there's no war on women. It is, at best, an imaginary war being fought amongst Democrats and their own semantics. Whats funny and/or tragic about this is that the Democrats can't even win over the war they have created in their own mind. It shouldn't surprise anyone, then, that since Democrat Barack Obama became commander in chief of our military that we have lost in Iraq, Afghanistan, and any other military venture he ever had going up to the time he took office.
