Mar 31, 2014: Washington Post: Conservatives to women: Lean back
“We’re gathered to celebrate Women’s History Month, but I don’t celebrate Women’s History Month,” announced writer Mona Charen, one of the panelists. “It doesn’t interest me whether a person who happens to share my chromosomes sits in the Oval Office. It doesn’t interest me how many women members of the Senate there are.” |
Mar 31, 2014: Time: Conservative Women Propose A Solution To Income Inequality: Marriage
“It’s not cave woman thinking: women know because of the nature of their bodies, because they carry and raise children, that they need support and protection during that time. The happiest women find that protection,” Mona Charen, a syndicated columnist, told an audience at Heritage’s Washington offices at an event marking the end of Women’s History Month. “Millions of women have taken feminist advice and it’s led to unparalleled misery.”

I would hope for two things: That Charen educate herself before learning that a relative/friend is “the face of this mania for sexual mutability (her words),” and hope that The Spokesman-Review be more discerning. I will probably never again read anything Charen writes.

Mona Charen, a syndicated columnist, delivers a speech for the Ashbrook Center's Major Issue Lecture Series on March 22, 1994.
Mona Charen is an American columnist and political analyst, and the author of two best-selling books, Useful Idiots: How Liberals Got it Wrong in the Cold War and Still Blame America First (2003) and Do-Gooders: How Liberals Hurt Those They Claim to Help (and the Rest of Us) (2005). Charen became a speechwriter for Nancy Reagan in 1984, and worked in the Office of Public Liaison. Quit the White House in 1986 to become a speechwriter for Jack Kemp's failed presidential campaign. She was also a weekly panelist on CNN's Capital Gang until its cancellation. Her political stance is conservative. Charen usually writes about foreign policy, terrorism, politics, and culture. She regularly writes about her Jewish faith and is also known for her generally pro-Israel views. On ecological issues, Charen often writes skeptically about environmentalists, who, she argues, often "may not know what they're talking about"
