Stupid On The Record: Feb 4, 2014: Kyle Chayka (Gawker) wrote an article he titled ""Who Cares" About Diversity in Comedy, Says Jerry Seinfeld." He is writing in response to Seinfelds comments about "diversity" in a Super Bowl commercial the day before. Chayka reports the quote: "Funny is the world that I live in. You're funny, I'm interested. You're not funny, I'm not interested," he said. "I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that." But in order to make his point, Chayke left out the whole quote where Seinfeld added: "“I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that,” he added. “But everyone else is kind of, with their calculating — is this the exact right mix? I think that’s — to me it’s anti-comedy. It’s more about PC-nonsense.” Anyway, Chayka concludes that Sienfeld "is downplaying the work of everyone from Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby to Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, and Eddie Huang, who are all in various stages of their own sitcoms that just might turn out to be the next Seinfeld." He also lists Tina Fey, Chris Rock, Sarah Silverman & Mario Joyner. Sienfeld's comments, however, make no such assertion. What Seinfeld would likely say about Chayka's list of people is that he would rate them on how funny they are and not what race or gender they are. Chayka's observation is race baiting. Race baiting is stupid and his story is stupid on the record.

ON THE RECORD: Jan 9, 2014: Sydney Smith (IMediaEthics) reported that "the Associated Press reported that Robert Levinson, an American man who went missing in Iran in March 2007, wasn't on a business trip but was actually working for the Central Intelligence Agency. ......But numerous outlets, including the AP, had known about Levinson's affiliation for years and agreed to not report on the CIA news at the U.S. government's request. The New York Times revealed in a report that it found out about Levinson being on a CIA mission just months after his 2007 disappearance. Gawker tracked three times where the New York Times published the wrong claim that Levinson was on a business trip. Also, Gawker reported that ABC News, which found out the CIA link around the same time as the Times, included the wrong "business trip" information "at least 7 times."
