Nilay Patel is an American technology journalist and former copyright lawyer. After serving as managing editor of Engadget, he left in 2011 and went on to become managing editor of The Verge. In 2014 he left The Verge to join sister site Vox, but later returned to become the new editor-in-chief of The Verge, replacing Joshua Topolsky
