Sept 25, 2014: Bill Moyers & Co: Barbara Lee Was Right in 2001. She’s Still Right Now.
It has been 13 years since Congresswoman Barbara Lee cast her lonely vote against authorizing President Bush to launch what she warned could be an ill-defined and endless war. Days after she cast that vote, the California Democrat appeared before hundreds of students at Mills College in Oakland and was greeted for the first time by the chant, “Barbara Lee speaks for me.”

Mar 15, 2014: Reuters reports that "Republican U.S. Representative Paul Ryan on Friday agreed to meet with the Congressional Black Caucus after members of the group branded his remarks about inner-city poverty this week "highly offensive". The controversy began on Wednesday after Ryan said on William Bennett's talk radio show, "Morning in America," that there was a "tailspin of culture, in our inner cities in particular, of men not working and just generations of men not even thinking about working or learning the value of work." Representative Barbara Lee of California, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, called Ryan's remarks a "thinly veiled racial attack." "Let's be clear, when Mr. Ryan says 'inner city,' when he says, 'culture,' these are simply code words for what he really means: 'black'," Lee said in a statement." WHEN is this madness going to stop? If anyone said something intentionally offensive it was Rep Barbara Lee for hearing what Ryan said and then deciding what he said meant something else. Manufacturing this rage is getting just stupid. Its making people have to go on these idiotic "apology tours" which do nothing but make the person a subservient slave to whomever or whatever organization they have to apologize to. And there's always plenty of news agencies, like the Huffington Post, who love to help stimulate the manufacturing of the rage. It's seems to be, so far, the 21st century witch hunt and the hunters are burning and attempting to burn witches all over the world, but especially here in the USA. Personally, I have no interest in pursuing witches. I have more interest in going after witch hunters. Barbara Jean Lee (born July 16, 1946) is the U.S. Representative for California's 13th congressional district, serving East Bay voters from 1998 to 2013 during a time when the region was designated California's 9th congressional district. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She was the first woman to represent the 9th district and is also the first woman to represent the 13th district. Lee was the Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus and was the Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Lee is notable as the only member of either house of Congress to vote against the authorization of use of force following the September 11, 2001 attacks. This made her a hero among many in the anti-war movement. Lee has been a vocal critic of the war in Iraq and supports legislation creating a Department of Peace.
