"We need to pass appropriations measures to keep the government from shutting down, we need to pass a temporary extension of the Internet Tax Freedom Act, we need to do something, of course, as I just mentioned, about Ex-Im Bank.”
“We have to do the defense authorization bill which is extremely important for the fighting men and women of this country. We are going to address the [Senator Mark] Udall constitutional amendment on campaign finance reform and we’re going to reconsider a number of issues – college affordability, minimum wage, Hobby Lobby, student debt. So we have a lot of work to do,” Reid said. “Following the August recess, we’re going to be here for two weeks and two days. That’s not a lot of time for the workload we have to do. There will be no weekends off,” he added.

Z-News Notes: Mar 13, 2014: Ed O'Keefe (Washington Post) reports some comments by Harry Reid: “This is hard for me to comprehend, how with a clear conscious they can say — Ukrainians, we probably can’t help you because we’re trying to protect the Koch brothers,” Reid told reporters. “And not only that, they’re saying the American people that protecting the Koch brothers is more important than protecting our country.” Harry Reid is staging a personal inquisition against the Koch brothers as he gamble on the assumption that the Koch brothers are funding a lot of the Republican efforts. The idea of attacking the source at its roots make sense in most cases, but considering people like George Soros exist, it's kind of like throwing rocks from the comfort of your glass house. ON THE RECORD: Mar 6, 2014: Joan McCarter (Daily Kos) reports: " Harry Reid to Politico: 'Get a brain, OK?'." Relaying a conversation with Harry Reid and a Politico reporter and information from a Politico article, McCarter writes: "“Get a brain, OK?” the Senate majority leader snapped at a reporter, when asked why he doesn’t permit far more votes on GOP amendments. “You’re a smart guy.” McCarter goes through all the political rhetoric which appears to be plaguing Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, who appears to be some kind of hero by McCarter for having to tolerate the fact that there are other opinions in Washington DC besides his own. She summarizes: "The last thing Reid should be apologetic for is speaking the truth about Republican obstruction. And he really doesn't need to apologize for telling Politico reporters to get a brain." The fact that she is thoroughly devoted to Reid is her thing, it's just too bad that she is so blind to the fact that there are other opinions besides her own and decides, because of that, that it's OK to throw a reporter under the bus. If it were another reporter for any of her personal "pet" causes and "political" devotions I suspect she would have decried such a journalistic foul by an elected official. It was only about a month ago that McCarter, while addressing the subject of journalism in light of Snowden ("The 'Journalism After Snowden' problem") that she wrote: "If journalists are feeling such a direct threat, it's not just Fourth Amendment rights for citizens that are jeopardized by the national security state. It's the Fifth Estate and the long tradition of a free press in the U.S." Granted, Reid and Snowden are different subjects, but in one McCarter supports and endorses a "free press" while when it comes to Harry Reid her story changes. Harry Mason Reid (born December 2, 1939) is the senior United States Senator from Nevada and a member of the Democratic Party serving since 1987. He has been the Senate Majority Leader since January 2007, having previously served as Minority Leader and Minority and Majority Whip. Previously, Reid was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Nevada's 1st congressional district, and served in Nevada local and state government as city attorney of Henderson, a state legislator, the 25th Lieutenant Governor, and chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission.
As Senate Majority Leader and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Reid has achieved a more senior elected position in the United States government than any other Mormon in history. Also, if he completes a full term as Senate Majority Leader of the 113th United States Congress, he will be one of only three Senators to serve at least eight years as Majority Leader along with Alben W. Barkley and Mike Mansfield. Reid's current term ends in January 2017 and is seeking re-election in 2016.
