Say Anything is a popular political and current events blog created and run by Rob Port of Minot, ND who has proclaimed the website to be "North Dakota's most popular political blog." It consists of a "main page" section with multiple contributors and a "reader blogs" section that is open for public posting. The blog was started on September 10, 2003 and has since become the most widely read political blog in North Dakota, and one of the most widely read in the nation as well. Currently Say Anything is listed at #79 on Wikio's list of the internet's most influential political blogs and has been nominated twice for the Weblog Awards' "Best Conservative Blog" category (2005and 2007).
Archetype: Apr 19, 2014: Rob Port and Say Anything Blog from North DakotaInteresting: States That Increased Local Spending Have Not Reduced Property Taxes
Since before the 2007 Legislative session, North Dakota has been embroiled in a statewide debate about property taxes. Judging by the amount of criticism from the public about property taxes, and the fact that the state’s politicians seek to address it again and again with various schemes, I don’t think there’s any question that a majority in the state see property taxes as a problem. Obama Administration To Announce More Delay For Keystone Pipeline: We live in a democracy. There’s nothing with dissent against pipeline projects, however misguided some of us may feel it is. But there is something wrong with the government sandbagging those projects and pandering to environmental activists by refusing to make a determination one way or another. Jon Godfread: Conservation Measure Backers Have Flawed Assumptions I read with great interest a recent letter from Steve Adair and Naomi Thorson about their interpretation of the Clean Water, Wildlife and Parks Amendment. It included several fundamentally flawed assumptions that need to be corrected. Why George Sinner’s Anemic Fundraising Report Was Devastating For His Campaign The numbers were awful for Sinner. After months of delays, breaking is own deadlines to announce a campaign, Sinner is now sitting with less than $40,000 in his campaign and just a little more than six months left to go until election day. Cramer, on the other hand, has over $500,000 in cash on hand, twice what he had at this point in his successful 2012 campaign. Federal Judge Rules That Minnesota Can’t Restrict Coal-Fired Power Imported From North Dakota A big win for North Dakota against Minnesota’s Next Generation Energy Act which put restrictions on importing coal-fired power into the state. Steve Cates: A Timeline For Common Core Did the Common Core Standards appear magically out of thin air? Unlikely. North Dakota’s March Unemployment Rate: 2.6%, Down From 3% A Year Ago No surprises in the latest job numbers for North Dakota. Unemployment remains at a rock-bottom low. In fact, it went a bit lower in March of 2014 compared to a year ago. The Spirit Of The First Amendment Is As Important As The Law The issue of free speech has been much in the headlines of late, most recently with the situation surrounding Brendan Eich who was forced to step down as Mozilla’s CEO because of a political contribution he made to an anti-gay marriage group. From The Left: Does North Dakota Have A NIMBY Problem? Being born in another state, but having spent most of my life here, it took me many years to truly adapt to the unique culture that we have. Our culture was formed on the East, primarily by emigrants from Scandinavia, who came from a culture of people that were fiercely independent and very humble, but also tended to keep to themselves. After Voting With Him 97% Of The Time, Heidi Heitkamp Helps Other Democrats Campaign Against Obama In her 2012 campaign, Senator Heidi Heitkamp worked long and hard to brand herself not as a liberal Democrat, but as an “independent” who would “stand up” to President Barack Obama. Such rhetoric was necessary in a state where Obama lost by more than 20 points, and Heitkamp herself won by just a few thousand votes. It’s hard to imagine Heitkamp being in the US Senate now had she not campaigned so hard against Obama. |
