Oct 21, 2014: Timothy Burke: Deadspin: Timbers Two Minutes Into Match

ON THE RECORD: Apr 15, 2014: An example of how the media tries to create a issue out of nothing can be found in another article by Elias Isquith (Salon: "Bill O’Reilly asks John Calipari how he coaches all those crazy black kids"). Of an interview Bill O'Reilly did with John Calipari, he summarizes in in an article: "Calipari did his best to implicitly reject the assumptions embedded in O’Reilly’s questions, but the championship-winning coach was obviously uncomfortable throughout a segment that could be reasonably boiled down to O’Reilly asking, repeatedly, “What’s with these black kids today and how do I get them off my lawn?”" He even posts a video of the O'Reilly Factor interview. But, no where did O'Reilly even say anything about race. So Isquith makes an assumption and tries to pass it off as fact. Timothy Burke (Deadspin) did an article also, ("Bill O'Reilly Questions John Calipari On "Hip-Hop, Rap Stuff, Hustlers"') and though he included a transcript, he, at least, did not charge O'Reilly with racism that wasn't there. Burke did refer to O'Reilly as "bigotted" because of the questions he asked, but never made any effort to qualify why he thought they were bigotted. Personally, I think "bigotry is usually in the life of the beholder" and not vice versa as a general rule. Comments can be made here: Bigotry is usually in the life of the beholder and not vice versa as a general rule
