Z-NEWS NOTES: 02.26.14: During the "Moral Monday" protest in Raleigh, South Carolina last week, the NAACP leader, William Barber II was quoted as saying “When blacks and progressive whites came together 144 years ago to begin the long journey out of the division of the civil war, the good of the whole state was their vision – a vision that was blown up by racism wielded by the wealthy whose interests were threatened. Their original populist vision is what must guide us now. That higher ground is the way forward. It is the better way." Sounds great, but according to The Institute for Research and Education on Human Rights, they titled their article "Tens of Thousands of North Carolinians Stand Up to the Tea Party." Doesn't seem much like taking any "higher ground."

According to "The State" Barber added "that pastors who obsess about topics like prayer, homosexuality and abortion while neglecting justice, poverty, fair play and equality issues “are just running their mouths.” This kind of "preaching" elevates his causes to be divine, and anyone who would do something "obssessive" (like pray?) is on the wrong side of his religion.
